Monastery of Ipseni

The monastery of Ipseni lies just 4km southeast of Lardos and is an oasis of calm and serenity set amongst the olive and pine tree groves.   Built in 1855 and inhabited by nuns who live a simple but rewarding life. The sisters of the monastery paint icons, sew, work the land (vines, olives, citrus fruits etc) and mount icon reproductions onto natural wood. A monastery with a story of its own bestows a spirit of calm and friendly welcome on visitors and pilgrims to the monastery alike.
