CAFES IN LINDOS
Whilst the original Greek coffee shop or 'Kafeneion' is not seen so much in Lindos, you will find plenty of contemporary cafes, many of which have been converted within beautiful old buildings. If you find the Greek coffee too strong (or bitter), then simply ask for a 'Nescafe' for a standard instant coffee. Frothy cappuccinos and lattes are also widely available and the most popular coffee in Greece is a 'Frappe'. Simply a cold coffee served in a glass over ice, this refreshing drink will also give you your caffeine fix (often much stronger than a normal coffee). You will ask for it 'sketo' (no sugar), 'metrio' (medium sweet) or 'gliko' (very sweet) and for milk just say 'meh gala'. Freddo cappuccinos are also taking over the frappe where filter coffee is used instead of granule coffee and you can have chocolate or cinnamon sprinkled on top
Accompany your coffee with a Greek sweet treat from the honey laden baklava to homemade cakes and ice-creams. A perfect mid morning break from the sunshine or a divine afternoon 'tea'. In fact, whatever part of the day, there's always time for coffee and cake!
