Rhodes Town
A visit to Rhodes is not complete without a visit to Rhodes Town, the Capital, the heart and soul and driving force of the island. A chequered history and a blend of old and new spill out from the city walls in this magnificent Medieval town. An abundance of civilisations and cultures have left their mark on the island of Rhodes and in particular the old city. Roman walls, Venetian buildings and Turkish baths amongst the hundreds of tiny streets with the era of the Knights of St John making a massive impact on the architecture of the city.
Wander along Mandraki Harbour where the colourful fishing boats and day cruises line the jetty and as you continue along the boats just get bigger and better. A popular port call on the cruise ship calendar, Rhodes is at the crossroads of many civilisations and those who visit just for the day, always return as the island just keeps on giving. From designer shops in the new town to handicrafts, boutiques and art shops amongst the museums and relics of the old town, there really is something for everyone.
